Comparing some European universities' ranking points by different rankings Click on the names for more information about the methodology of ARWU, Leiden, Scimagio, THE and QS [table id=arwu_the /] We may say that one year does not count much but according to the datas, there are several modifications among the ranks of the universities. Taking a look at Scimago's ranking, all of the universities mentioned in the list changed their positions between 2012 and 2013. It needs to be noticed, that the  approches uses different numbers: intervals and exact numbers are given as well in this summary which may fade the smaller differences. Leiden Leiden University’s Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) has developed a new ranking list based exclusively on bibliometric indicators. In early 2007, the CWTS presented its ranking results for the 100 European universities with the largest number of scientific publications. Interestingly, while respondents considered the aspects of ranking based on student and labour market opinion to be especially important among possible factors, they emphasize factual information in relation to the orientation of applications. The common opinion of the educational experts consulted is that the decision of applicants is primarily controlled by entrance exam requirements, admission scores and the opportunities of obtaining extra points. Accordingly the vast majority of respondents consider rankings important, but as it is seen from their responses not necessarily in selecting higher education institutions and developing their application strategy. The position of Hungarian higher education institutions in international rankings, compared to their counterparts from the Central European region  In ARWU 2011 ranking the University of Helsinki and the University of Vienna exceed all the others. The two Hungarian universities are in the middle section, Charles University (CZ) has a better position from the surrounding countries. Looking at the partial scores we must note the importance of Nobel Prizes and Field Medas: among the best universities we can find almost entirely the ones scoring on the two indicators (Alumni and Award), but for scoring, only one prize or medal is enough for the university.
